1.19 Billion users – your ideal clients are very likely to be on Facebook!
But why a business page and not your personal page?
Build your list
You can add your email sign up to your business page. Why does this matter? You own your list, but you don’t own Facebook, it could close at any time, or change its rules at any time. If you only use Facebook you really are putting all your eggs in one basket, and it’s not a basket that you control.
Free and affordable marketing
Once you have your business page you can market your business for free. Again, you may think that this can be done from your personal page, but there is much more that you can do with a business page without paying a penny. You can
· List your services and your opening times
· Set up events
· Run a booking system
· Get calls or messages
· Collect customers reviews
Most importantly you can advertise. Facebook advertising is one of the most cost-effective ways of marketing your business quickly to a large, targeted market.
Build a targeted audience
You can target your posts to an audience, based on location, however ads are the way to go get targeting. You can target groups of people by interests, including big brands and public figures, by location, age, and gender. This means that you can target your ideal client, instead of ‘spray and pray’ marketing.
Control your costs
Unlike most advertising you get to choose how much you spend, though you should be spending a minimum of £30 per campaign.
Insights
For me, one of the best thing about Facebook are the insights. You can see who likes your page, what time they are on Facebook, how well your ads have performed.
Schedule your posts
Facebook has its own scheduling tool, so you can create batches of content and schedule to post at times of your choosing.
Facebook is searchable
Google your own name and it is likely that your Facebook page will appear. If potential clients are searching for you on line what would you prefer they see, your personal Facebook page, or a professionally put together business page?
Think Big
You can only have a limited number of friends on a personal account, 5000 is the number I last read. So, if you are looking to build a large following you really need a business page.
Think bigger
You can run multiple pages, if you have different niches to serve, you can run groups. This gives you endless possibilities to engage with different audiences with information that is only relevant to them. Post everything to everyone and you risk people switching off and clicking away.
Assign admin roles
And while we’re thinking bigger, you may find that you want to outsource managing aspects of your page to a VA or employee. With a page you can assign admin roles so, if you want, you can delegate your Facebook tasks.
And finally – you could get your page closed down!
If the business reasons listed above aren’t convincing you, consider this… Using your personal page to promote your business is against Facebook’s terms, and they could permanently close your account down if you don’t convert to a page.
