Am I mad to try and set up my own website?

I love to be open and honest with my audience, and so I’m writing this blog as I’m about to do something that may or may not be a really daft idea. I’m going to attempt to set up my own website.

I’m setting up my coaching business on a shoe string, for two reasons. Firstly, I want to keep costs as low as possible as I don’t have masses of money to spend on my set up. Secondly, I want to be able to use the experience to help me support other new businesses in the future. For me this is a learning experience as well as a cost-saving exercise.

Although I have no coding skills I do have some experience in working with WordPress in my 9-5 roles, and once upon a time set up my own blog in WP, now sadly closed as I just didn’t give it the TLC it deserved. Even so, I’m only about 40% certain that I can pull this off, but I’m determined to give it a go.

So far all that I’ve done is write the copy, and I have photos from a branding mini shoot to use. I’ve bought the domain and set up the hosting. I’m toying with whether to go with a Divi theme, and need to decide on this before I go any further.

I’ve also got my sales funnel collateral ready to go, but it’s not set up yet. I’ll be working with a tech coach to get my funnel up and running.

To date the most difficult thing has been packaging up my services, which is ironic as that’s a service I offer my clients. It just goes to show that we don’t always give ourselves the same care and attention that we offer others.

Keep watching my Facebook page to find out when my new site is launched.
